All vehicle rentals at Woodley Car Hire are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement provided upon booking confirmation or vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, associated charges, and your obligations related to the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will take precedence.
Eligibility Criteria
Rental Vehicle Requirements
- To rent a vehicle from Woodley Car Hire, you must be at least 21 years old, though age requirements may differ based on the vehicle type. A valid full driving license suitable for the vehicle category is necessary, along with proof of identity and current address. You will also need to provide valid payment details and a security deposit, as well as meet any additional criteria outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking & Payments
- Reservations for car hire can be made through our website, by phone, or directly at our Woodley location. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment, along with a security deposit, is typically required upon collecting the vehicle. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include applicable VAT. We accept major credit and debit cards, with transactions securely processed through trusted payment providers.
4. Pickup and Drop-off Procedures
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is essential to conduct a thorough inspection and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document the state of the vehicle. Upon returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as it was when collected, allowing only for standard wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as necessary. The vehicle must also be returned with the same fuel level; refueling charges will apply for vehicles returned with less fuel than at collection. Late returns may incur additional fees, so please inform us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You will be held responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental period, along with a small administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Guidelines
- All rental agreements include basic third-party insurance coverage. Details regarding coverage limits and excess amounts are outlined in the Rental Agreement. You may opt for additional insurance to lower your financial liability. As the renter, you are responsible for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless you acquire extra coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of the provided insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities or purposes. This includes racing, off-roading, or any dangerous driving practices. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. The vehicle cannot be sub-let or driven by unauthorized individuals. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Users must adhere to passenger and weight limits and must not drive outside the specified geographical area without proper authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent permitted by English and Welsh law, Woodley Car Hire assumes no liability for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the amount paid for the rental within the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in these regions.
